Wargaming should be for everyone. That’s the idea of Badger Bodges!
I don’t think I’ve ever quite shaken that feeling I got the first time I was in my Friendly Local Gaming Store (FLGS, to those in the know!) with nothing but pocket money and a dream. Wargaming was something I was drawn to, I loved, but always felt like I couldn’t afford. And as a kid, and then as a uni student, I couldn’t really!
I learnt to make do with less to keep my hobby alive. My friends and I would scratch build our own terrain, I built my own tanks from plasticard and bottletops, we downsized everything to 6mm so we could play on the floor of our tiny uni flats. All kinds of little alterations to keep the cost down and the gaming alive.

Wargaming doesn’t have to be expensive. With the right know-how, a bit of creativity, the occasional bin diving, a charity shop raid or two, and a tactical purchase here and there, you can fully enjoy this great hobby without re-mortgaging your house.

And even better, if you know where to keep costs low, you can also occasionally splash out on the odd expensive kit!
